Aweh (pronounced ‘ah-weh’) is an informal greeting in Cape Town, South Africa, and can also mean approval or excitement. The name Awehness captures our spirit of informal and exciting public engagement and knowledge generation from our home base in Cape Town, South Africa.

Awehness is a registered NPO, est. 2025. We are a small team working towards a new eco-social contract: shifting how humans relate to the natural environment, the economy, and each other, with equity and justice at the core.

Our work is informed by three praxis threads that weave through everything we do.
